Review industry groups annually in order to identify emerging sectors and incorporate them into the organization.
Develop annual membership goals reflecting any desired "mix" adjustments, so as to maintain balance between industry groups.
Strive to meet membership expansion goals recommended annually by the Committee and sanctioned by the Board of Directors, consistent with membership guidelines.
These guidelines for membership are published to provide broad criteria to members considering nominating a woman for WLC. It is expected that unusual situations will occur which do not fit these generalized guidelines. Please contact the Co-Chairs of the Membership Committee regarding exceptional situations or questions about the nomination process.
Completing the WLC membership nomination is essentially a three-stage process.
1. Prospective members will be prescreened to determine if their credentials meet the stated guidelines.
Sponsor submits resume or bio of prospective member to the Membership Committee.
Sponsor is to include a brief written statement as to why she believes that the candidate would be an appropriate WLC member.
2. It is the Membership Committee's intent that prospective members meet several current members before the nomination is presented, so that nominees, as well as WLC, are comfortable that the organization is a good fit.
Membership Committee has the right to require a meeting with prospective candidates before acceptance into WLC.
3. The completed nomination form is submitted to the Membership Committee.
4. The prospective member, once approved by the Membership Committee, will be put before the WLC Board of Directors for final approval.
The Sponsor's responsibility does not end with the candidate's acceptance for membership. The Sponsor's greatest role is encouraging and supporting the candidate's active integration into WLC.
